Safeguarding at Wilburton C of E Primary School
Wilburton C of E Primary School is committed to ensuring the welfare and safety of all their children. Pupils have a right to learn in a supportive, caring and safe environment which includes the right to protection from all types of abuse; where staff are vigilant for signs of any pupil in distress and are confident about applying safeguarding processes to avert and alleviate any such problems.
Safeguarding is about ensuring that everyone is safe from harm:
- Safe from bullying,
- Safe from people who could abuse,
- Safe from discrimination or harassment
- Safe in their environment.
The safety and wellbeing of children is of paramount importance. When concerned about the welfare of a child, staff always act in the best interests of the child. We have a wide range of measures in place to ensure this is put into practice and is maintained:
- Regular child protection training for all staff and governors;
- Teaching children about safety and risk through the school curriculum, including PSHE and e-safety;
- School policies to ensure children are safe and secure (see policies section);
- Safer Recruitment procedures and staff induction;
- Regular safeguarding checks by governors and the local authority;
- Site security procedures;
- Processes for collecting children at the end of the school day.
